When your rooftop AC quits in the summer heat, we come to your driveway, campsite, or storage lot and fix it, most jobs the same day. Mobile RV and camper air-conditioning repair, replacement, and warranty service across the Tampa Bay area.
From capacitors and fan motors to frozen coils and dead control boards: every common (and uncommon) RV AC problem, diagnosed on-site and fixed same-day when we can.
Not cooling
Blows warm air, can't keep up with the summer heat, or runs constantly without dropping the temp.
Freezing up
Ice builds on the coils, airflow drops, and it actually cools worse the longer it runs.
Leaking water inside
Water drips onto the bed or floor, usually a clogged condensate drain, a shifted roof gasket, or a coil that froze and melted.
Weak airflow
Vents barely whisper. Could be the squirrel cage, blower motor, capacitor, or ductwork.
Tripping breakers
Pops the 30A or 50A pedestal as soon as the compressor kicks on. Classic capacitor or compressor wear.
Won't power on
Thermostat dead, control board fried, or the unit just refuses. We'll trace it from breaker to roof.
Seeing something that's not on the list? We've almost certainly fixed it before.
Whether your unit isn't cooling, freezing up, or has stopped completely, we diagnose and fix it on-site. When a repair isn't worth it, we'll quote a full replacement and install it, often the same week.

Good to know
RV AC, explained.
Can you recharge an RV air conditioner?
Almost never, and that's the honest answer. Unlike your truck's AC, most rooftop RV air conditioners (Dometic, Coleman-Mach, Furrion) are sealed at the factory with no service ports, so they aren't built to be recharged with Freon. When yours stops cooling, the fix is almost never “add refrigerant.” It's usually a failed capacitor, fan motor, frozen coil, or control board, all of which we repair on-site. If the sealed system itself has actually failed, the unit gets replaced, not recharged. Anyone offering to “top off the Freon” on a rooftop RV unit is guessing; we'll tell you what's actually wrong.
Repair or replace? How to think about a dying RV AC
A rooftop RV AC usually lasts 8–15 years, less in relentless heat and humidity. Worth repairing: a bad capacitor, fan motor, thermostat, or control board (common, affordable fixes that get you cold again the same day). Time to replace: a failed compressor or sealed system, a unit 10-plus years old that keeps breaking, or when a new high-efficiency unit will pay for itself in power savings. When you're on the line between the two, we'll quote both (the repair and the replacement) and give you our honest take. No pressure either way.
Keep your RV AC alive in the summer heat
Most “sudden” AC failures we see were slow-building and easy to prevent. Four habits add years to a rooftop unit:
The bigger picture: why RV AC struggles in the heat
Most RV rooftop units are sized for comfort, not a brutal summer afternoon. A single 13,500 BTU unit is doing everything it can to hold the inside about 20° below whatever it is outside, so when it's 95° out, 75° in the rig is a win, not a failure. When something is genuinely wrong, though, 18+ years on rigs means we can usually tell what (and what it'll take to fix) in a few minutes.
Heat and humidity are hard on these units. Damp air keeps coils corroding, seasonal dust cakes the condenser, and daily heat-soak cycles capacitors and fan motors to death. The failures we see most, in order: tired run capacitors, seizing fan motors, frozen coils from restricted airflow, and control boards cooked by heat or a power surge at the pedestal. Those are component repairs. We carry the parts and finish them on-site.
When a unit finally loses its sealed system or compressor, that's the line where a fresh unit is the smarter money, especially past ten years. And if you're weighing a second AC, a soft start to run it off a smaller generator, or a heat-pump upgrade for cooler mornings, we're happy to talk it through before you buy anything. We'd rather talk you out of the wrong unit than sell you one.

“I was caught in a jam at the KOA campground in St. Petersburg when my air conditioner unit was throwing a faulty code. After calling multiple people, Jared assured me he would be there as soon as possible to help since it was so hot outside. Jared showed up within 20 minutes of the call and had the issue fixed in less than that. He was professional, knowledgeable, and was fair with his pricing!”
