Good to know
RV water heaters, explained.
Why you have no hot water (gas vs. electric)
Most RV water heaters run two ways (propane and 120-volt electric), and knowing which side failed points straight at the fix. If the electric side is dead, it's almost always a burned-out heating element, a bad thermostat, or a tripped high-limit reset button. If the gas side won't work, it's usually the igniter, the thermocouple, or the gas valve: the burner clicks but won't stay lit. Many owners never realize one side quit because the other keeps making hot water. We test both, so you leave with everything working, not just the half you noticed.
The anode rod: the cheap part that saves your tank
Suburban (and some Dometic) steel tanks have a sacrificial anode rod: a soft metal rod that corrodes on purpose so your tank doesn't. When it's used up, the tank starts to rust, the hot water smells like rotten eggs, and eventually it leaks. Swapping the anode rod once a year and flushing the tank is one of the cheapest, highest-value bits of RV maintenance there is. (Atwood tanks are aluminum and use no anode, worth knowing which you have.) If you've got smelly or rusty hot water, that's the rod talking; we'll swap it and flush the tank.
Tank or tankless? What to know before you upgrade
When a tank heater dies, a tankless (on-demand) upgrade is tempting, and often worth it. Tankless gives you effectively endless hot water, saves weight, and frees up the space a 6- or 10-gallon tank takes. The trade-offs: it needs decent water flow and pressure to fire, the temperature can swing if you crack the tap too low, and it costs more up front. For a lot of full-timers it's a clear win; for weekend campers a straight tank replacement is often the smarter money. We install both and we'll tell you which fits how you actually camp.

“I was caught in a jam at the KOA campground in St. Petersburg when my air conditioner unit was throwing a faulty code. After calling multiple people, Jared assured me he would be there as soon as possible to help since it was so hot outside. Jared showed up within 20 minutes of the call and had the issue fixed in less than that. He was professional, knowledgeable, and was fair with his pricing!”
