What we fix

If your RV fridge is acting up, we've seen it.

Absorption or 12-volt compressor, Dometic or Norcold: every common RV refrigerator and appliance failure, diagnosed on-site and fixed same-day when we can.

Not cooling

Runs but won't get cold, the #1 RV fridge call, usually a cooling unit, thermistor, or control-board fault.

Won't stay cold

Cools, then drifts warm, often a weak cooling unit, blocked ventilation, or a fridge fighting the summer heat.

Won't power on

Dead control or power board, a blown fuse, or a fridge that won't switch between propane and electric.

Works on gas but not electric

One power source runs and the other doesn't, an element, igniter, thermocouple, or board fault we trace on-site.

Freezing or uneven temps

Food freezes, or the fridge won't hold temperature, commonly a thermistor or thermostat drifted out of range.

Other galley appliances

Stove, oven, microwave, or washer-dryer down too? We service the whole galley, not just the fridge.

Seeing something that's not on the list? We've almost certainly fixed it before.

Refrigerator Repair

Cold again, usually the same day.

Absorption or 12-volt compressor, we diagnose the real cause (cooling unit, thermistor, control or power board, or a ventilation problem) and repair it on-site. When a cooling unit is truly done, we'll quote a replacement and weigh it honestly against a 12-volt upgrade.

  • On-site diagnosis & repair
  • Absorption & 12V compressor fridges
  • Cooling unit, board & thermistor work
  • Dometic, Norcold, Furrion, Everchill
Whole-Galley Appliances

The fridge isn't the only thing we fix.

While we're there, we service the rest of the galley (stove and oven burners and igniters, microwave, range hood, and washer-dryer) so you're not booking four separate visits for four appliances.

  • Stoves, ovens & cooktops
  • Microwaves & range hoods
  • Washer-dryer units
  • One visit for the whole galley

RV fridges, explained.

Absorption vs. 12-volt compressor: which fridge do you have?

RV refrigerators come in two very different types, and the fix depends on which you've got. An absorption fridge (most older and mid-range rigs, usually Dometic or Norcold) has no compressor; it uses heat from propane or an electric element to move a sealed solution, with no moving parts. It's quiet and runs off-grid on propane, but it cools slowly, hates being off-level, and struggles in extreme heat. A 12-volt compressor fridge (newer rigs, Furrion, Everchill, and 12V Dometic) works like the one in your house: faster, far better in the heat, and level-tolerant, but it leans on your batteries. Knowing which you have tells us where the fault usually hides: cooling unit and ventilation on absorption, compressor and control board on 12-volt.

Why is my RV fridge not cooling?

On an absorption fridge, “not cooling” is usually one of a few things: it's sat off-level long enough to crystallize the cooling unit, the cooling unit has finally failed, the ventilation behind the fridge is blocked, or the thermistor or control board is misreading temperature. On a 12-volt compressor fridge it's more often the compressor, the control board, or a low battery starving it. The good news: most of these are on-site repairs, and we can usually tell a repairable fault from a dead cooling unit early in the visit, so you're not throwing parts at a fridge that actually needs replacing.

Repair, replace, or upgrade to 12-volt?

When an absorption cooling unit dies, you've got three honest options, and we'll lay out all three. Repair: replace the cooling unit and keep propane capability; the cheapest path if the rest of the fridge is sound. Replace: a new absorption unit, like-for-like. Upgrade: swap to a 12-volt compressor fridge, which cools better in the heat, doesn't care about being level, and frees you from propane for refrigeration (it does lean harder on your batteries, so it's worth pairing with a look at your power setup). We install all three, and we'll tell you which makes sense for how you actually camp, not which one costs the most.

Keep your RV fridge cold in the summer heat

An RV fridge (especially absorption) is only as good as its airflow and its habits. A few things that keep it cold: park so the fridge side isn't baking in full afternoon sun when you can; keep the exterior vents and the space behind the fridge clear so heat can escape; add or replace a fridge cooling fan if yours runs hot (a cheap, high-impact upgrade we install often); keep the door seals clean and sealing; and don't pack it so full that air can't circulate. Small stuff, but in a hot, humid climate it's the difference between a fridge that keeps up and one that quits on a 95-degree afternoon.

I was caught in a jam at the KOA campground in St. Petersburg when my air conditioner unit was throwing a faulty code. After calling multiple people, Jared assured me he would be there as soon as possible to help since it was so hot outside. Jared showed up within 20 minutes of the call and had the issue fixed in less than that. He was professional, knowledgeable, and was fair with his pricing!
